Community Profile

 

       San Jose is the largest barangay in the City of Antipolo where Purok Canumay, Sitio Ysiro is a part of it.Purok Canumay is situated in the mountain ranges of the city.It has a total land area of 2, 798 hectares and comprises of more than one hundred families.The ethnic composition of the population is mostly Visayas and Dumagats of Rizal Province. The “Remontados” (a term for an individual with “Dumagats” ancestry) comprises fifty percent (50%) of the population.People are engage primarily in farming as their source of living. 

 

       Purok Canumay is more than 38 kilometers away from the city proper.  It can be reached through land vehicle for almost two hours due to rough road.During rainy season,the road is muddy and slippery that caused jeepney drivers to cut trips up to certain portion which is passable. With this situation commuters from Sitio Canumay to city proper impedes the right of every graduates of the secondary student to pursue their education to tertiary level. Thus, resulted to a very slow progress of the place and early marriage is very common among the youth.

 

 

History of the School

 

        Canumay Elementary School is located at Purok Canumay, Sitio San  Ysiro, Brgy.San Jose, Antipolo City.  It was formerly a satellite school of Kaysakat Elementary School.  It was 50-60 kms away from DepEdAntipolo City Division.  The school site has a total land area of 1.2 hectares with 3 buildings, 2 makeshift room building was constructed in 1992, 3 rooms Garcia type Building constructed in 1997 and another building was constructed in the year 2000.  The school has a complete primary and intermediate classes composed of 7 nationally funded teachers and 1 para-teacher.  It is managed by a Teacher-In-Charge installed last July 2009 in the person of Mrs. Ana Maria G. Rivas, followed by Mrs.LuningningC. Tapales, Mrs. Jean L. Danga and presently managed by Mrs. Teresa O. Amido.

 

   The schools’ protection on school property is an accountability, authority and responsibility of the school manager, staff, barangay and community as well. 

 

      Our clientele are the families and children of farmers, laborers, drivers and kaingeros.  Some residents vary on their attitudes, indifferent, constant struggles caused by poverty and financial burden so it is a hindrance to our pupils to participate

in the different division activities and competitions.  Parents are cooperative, responsive and supportive involving themselves on the different school programs and projects, academic or non-academic. 

 

       School head, teachers, pupils and community are partners to uplift the performance of the school and working hard for the achievement of Education for All Target in the year 2015.
